watch one episode, and i'm hook.
omg, i can't say anything more. it's so funny. i mean hilarous, i can't stop laughing every single second of the show. i can't believe it, i've to thank my brother for deciding to watch it beside me.
so, what's it about? well, it's about 4 nerds/geek or whatever you want to call it, with a hot blonde neighbor. well, i'm sure you can guess what happen next. geek/nerd meet the world :P
trust me it's interesting, i gurantee you that. watch it and tell me, and i'll skin myself alive. but if i get a laugh out of you promise you will continue watching :P
and merry christmas!!!

malaysia food? NOT!
so, it's been a while since i posted... well, there is a reason... finals exam week, and no, i don't want to talk about it. AND it's not because i'm doing so well in school. ANY attempts to bring it up with be treated with HOSTILE intend and a quick execution will take place instantly with a chance of appeal.
now, i'm done having some fun with my posting, let's get down to the real reason why i'm posting this. a while back, i said i wanted to try this new and fancy malaysian restaurant :P
so, being me i went in for the first time with no intend on eating but instead i just ask for a menu i can take out with me. i didn't feel like spending a lot of time in the restaurant deciding what i wanted to get. so i figure i'll return the next day for it.
two things caught my eye:
One was the word "popiah" under the appetizers... i was omg. could it BE? the very same popiah that i love to each every single chance i get in malaysia, be it at home or even in my most favourite hawker center, bee hooi. i think i spelt it right. it's the one located right by pulau tikus :P a bit pricey compared to normal hawker center (god am i cheap).
well, long story short, that was something i'm defiantely going to order even if it's going to cost me 3 bucks for one roll.
now the second thing that caught my eye too, is char koay teow. well, obviously it wasn't written in hokkien. it was more like fried koay teow... i think there was the word singapore in it somewhere... but who cares, the listed ingrediant is exactly right... omg, another favourite food right from my favourite hawker center again... lawl
ok, so this is what i got...
now let's start with the critique:
popiah:
PRO: correct wrapping used.
CON: they used raw vegetable instead of cooked ones (tasted like crap), nothing in it other than 2 types of vegetables, which i cannot recognize, they gave me SAUCE to dip it in (WTF?) since when does popiah uses extra sause where you have to dip it in.
Conclusion: the taste was just down right outrageous, i could have done a better job myself.
Char Koey Teow:
PRO: the ingrediants were right, chinese sausage, prawns, bean sprout and thick white noodles.
CON: no egg, overkill of soya sauce making my face cringe everytime i eat.
Conclusion: like the popiah the taste was completely outrageous and also because of the excessive used of soya sauce, i got a headache right after finish the meal.
to sum it up, i guess my search for a true malaysian food in US will go on... and let's end it with what i hope to eat here in US:
btw, i stole all this picture, most came from this blog which i'm now following :P
ok, time to stop before i drool myself to death, if only i was joking.

Computer: Part 2 BE WARN LONG POST AHEAD
Happen on 10/25/08
Friday
6.30 pm - i open the boxes carefully, and took out all the manual.
7.00 pm - went to get food, while of course, reading the manual to make sure everything goes right and according to plan
7.45 pm - Set everything in one box and lay cardboard over the floor that i would be working with and also positioning myself in a non-carpeted area of my room(very small) to avoid static buildup and the possibility of static discharge that would destroy my computer . took out the nice looking computer case too. TRIED to open the case... impossible. well not exactly impossible if i decided to use brute force.
apparently due to the fact that i've been using a dell computer for so long that i forgot that some case doesn't have the easy locking system which dell cases seem to use. THEY HAVE SCREWS. so after figuring it out i can finally open the case and get started. everything else came out of the box nicely without much hassle.
now, there are certain order to install every single component.
on to this motherboard...
ya... so what's the problem? if you look closely at the motherboard. each of the gold things are pins... very fragile pins, that if you bend it by force, they won't cover it in your warranty... so, let's see... people would ask, what's the big deal? ok, fair enough, now imagine you need to shut another panel on your cpu to secure it, so it look something like this:
as you can see there is no cpu in this picture... but that's no the point. the force required to snap the lid shut is about how much force you will apply to open a jar of jam that has been VERY VERY TIGHTLY SEALED... so, basically i'm pushing down on the cpu with enough force, i'm sure to crushed the pins... now the problem is i tired using less force, then taking it out, to see if i've even bend the pins... but the pins are RIDICULOUSLY SMALL... and even if my near perfect sight, i can't tell whether it's bend or not... but basically every time i applied more force... i got a MINI HEART-ATTACK... until finally i decided fuck this... and i applied enough force in one go to close the thing....
so, that's bad enough... worst is still yet to come... I DON'T HAVE ANYWAY TO KNOW IF I'M SCREWED UP... well, not at least until i get the computer up... what a long night this will be....well, at the end this is what my motherboard look like after step 5... ready for step 6 :P
oh and this is what my computer look like before all the installation
pristine is the word i would use
and pretty much after that i'm too work up to remember to shoot my camera... there are several shots of the stuff in the box but that's about it... maybe i can show you :P
anyway, the only real problem i encounter after that is the installation of I/O plate... it's just annoying... btw, one of the selling point of this power supply i got:
it was that it was a modulated version... this basically means i could attach whatever wire i need to the power supply and to the component and NOT ANYTHING MORE than what i need... the funny thing was that in the end of the day, i used it all...
so, anyway i think i'm just gonna post the rest of my picture... to lazy to write more... ask question if you have i guess... although i highly doubt anybody ever reads all the way down or right in the middle... plus, who the hell actually builds their own computer...
my motherboard... i like the box :P
my graphic card... err... do you know how long is my graphic card? you wouldn't believe it even if i tell you... so i'll going to grab a picture... brb :P
oh yeah, the shoes will be a line of reference... i couldn't find anything else atm, so the shoes will do... i'm a size 7 and that graphic card is about 10.5 inch... huge leh? btw, ignore the messy cable. my computer is not done yet... so i'm not in a hurry to get everything nice and neat.
power supply in a box... they even provided me a bag :P too keep all those extra wires i will not use....
this is my very very nice, 640GB hard drive... and if i add my old 320GB hard drive, i practically have 1 terabyte!!1 woohoooo, i hit 1TB
well, this is my 4 gigs of ram first... i didn't get 8 gig right away cause of two reason.... i'm broke :P and also i don't have a copy of a 64bit vista ultimate
you see the thing that is highlighted... that is basically a metal holding my graphic card up, during the first 24 hours of my computer life... why?... i didn't have the right screwdriver to screw the graphic card in place....
so, what's so sweet about this case? it has a temperature monitor... with that i can see if my computer, especially my graphic card is overheating... oh yeah i was done about 3am in the morning after formatting the computer and everything... sadly to say in the period of the next 2 days i formatted my computer several more times to try to get my second hard drive to work.
so that's it... i'm surprise you read up to this point :P or maybe you went all the way down and saw this :P

mistake and it's not a secret anymore
well, there will be someone in particular who will be particularly piss, cause of copyright issue :P but i can't help it. the title fit so nicely. so let's not dwell in the title and go on to listen to a story.
from November 13-19, sFn was held. it's basically a convention for all the nerds in the neuro field to go to. i didn't attend it cause i've nothing to present :( maybe next year. anyway, my lab is completely empty except for a couple undergraduate that hardly show up. so i was doing western blotting, which is some very nice way of separating protein according to their weight. it starts with some homogenization, which basically means i'm squashing some brain cell in buffer solution. follow by immunoprecipitation (not going thought the steps), a difmup test and finally western blotting.
now the everything went fine until i started the western blotting. Basically i needed to transfer my samples into ten lanes that is also filled with another buffer. now the problem was that i didn't write down what's the concentration of the buffer suppose to be, and being new, i didn't know everything is suppose to be 1X not 4X or 5X. i just assume that different experiment will use different concentration... so i load 5X of running buffer.
the results were fantastic... in not a good way... i had 6 sample and 2 molecular marker... so i had to load them in one by one... the funny thing was by the time i load the 3rd sample, i felt something was wrong... my sample didn't want to settle down... like they won't go down... i thought maybe i need to give it some time... so i continue to load the rest of the sample and molecular marker... when i was done the result was amazing... the first two sample i load was GONE... POOF INTO THE AIR... somebody stole my sample? well, not exactly... i look at the third sample and guess what i saw?
the sample was CLIMBING OUT OF THE LANE. it's a freaking sample and it's climbing out... oh yeah, i'm loosing sample by the minute... so yeah, i'm slightly screwed... well maybe completely screwed cause i can't continue without my sample... it took me a while to figure out my mistake... so i related it to my coworker at the sFn...
guess what they do? they set up a facebook group just for me... oh yeah, and it's a secret facebook group... OHHH... didn't know you could do that...
so since, i'm telling you all right now, "it's not a secret anymore!"
*applause* *applause* *applause*
oh yeah, on a side note. if you think you never get enough static shock... come to the US during winter and you will be in for a surprise. i get a daily regiment of static shock every time i get back to my room... if i'm REALLY REALLY LUCKY, i'll get one on my way to class :P
what an intersting place to live in.
another side note. this is my thanksgiving dinner provided by the school one week in advance
ok, so it does look weird in the picture. but who cares. i have turkey and bread on the right. mash potato, corn and crumbs with gravy on the left... what a nice meal... and don't forget, a cup of chocolate milk :P

OMG 3 post in 24 hours
the most amazing thing that ever happen :P
this is the third post within 24 hours, so either somebody is pointing a gun to my head forcing me to post stuff... or it's divine intervention... well, i'm an atheist so i don't believe it can't be divine intervention :P i would say karma but that's just almost as retarded as divine intervention :P
Now this is the reason why i'm posting it one more time :P

DO YOU SEE IT?!?
so, it's a freaking south east asia shop. OMG. it has malaysia food!! and thai(hopefully better than the one i had last year). now the funnier thing is the story on how i found this place :P
i was walking to my friend house. her house is like 5 minutes off campus. what makes today different from any other day, was that i decided to take a different route. basically, i walk on the other side of the street. normally i go to her place after dinner but this time i didn't. so i was looking around if there is anything interesting to eat... I SAW THIS!!!
well, one restaurant found. it's slightly more expensive than what i usually buy but for MALAYSIA food i'll do anything :P probably go there next week. updates then :P

IT SNOWED and something a little more interesting
This happen on 10/25/08 :P
well, it was predicted that it would snow today, and well it was predicted to be heavy. so i bundle up. wore 2 layers of shirt and a jacket and well, you get the idea. so, i was walking my merry little way to class. and it did start to snow... i think... actually it was more like rain. at least it didn't reach the point that i would consider it snow. ha, the meteorologist, always either over predicting or under predicting. never get them right :P
boy was i wrong. about 4 hours later it started to snow a substantial amount. and i was like WTF? i mean look at the date! it isn't even november yet! and the leaves on the "beautiful" trees haven't even fall off yet but it's snowing... well, seriously can global warming make life anymore interesting? what's next? HAIL!! yes hail, i've never seen hail before and it would be nice if it happen :P *touch wood* *touch wood* *touch wood* hail are dangerous actually
well, now on to more interesting stuff :P well, i know, i know for some people snow is the most interesting stuff but trust me, it get's old after a while. but the first time will always be magnificiant but that's a story for another time.
ok, so what's more interesting to me than snow? MY COMPUTER! DUH! i mean how could there be anything less interesting for me than that since i haven't played games for two months. anyway, the parts arrive perfectly fine. 3 big boxes, which left the mail room girl(kinda hot, but didn't notice too much, lawl) a quizzical look and to which i replied "early christmas."

Computer parts in boxes :P
Unpacked :P how does it look, recognize anything?
a further view? wonder if it made a difference :P

and also ignore everything on the left and right of the picture. my room is not terribly big. so i'm in a cram and lack space for anything else.
oh btw, to be continue... (the unpacking and the setting up... the hardest time in my life... cost my 10 years of my life)
oh btw, to be continue... (the unpacking and the setting up... the hardest time in my life... cost my 10 years of my life)
HOLY SHIT
this will be the first time in my life i'm saying this... cause never in my life did i encounter this problem. and i'm almost sure nobody can guess what it is... cause even i didn't saw it coming in my lifetime.
the publishers need to produce LESS GOOD GAMES. i'm serious. i've been out of playing games for like 6 months. and the f#@king list is like about ten games down.
and this is not just some random shitty game i decided to try but the HOTTEST game out there. and well, when i'm not done playing it. MORE IS COMING out... not like one or two but like FIVE more within a MONTH... now i'm sitting down here wondering, how am i ever going to be able to finish all this game. maybe i really need to play games when i got back to malaysia instead of just ENJOYING the company of my friends and the FOOD(thanks to some hated person for reminding me)
i keep thinking should i make a list and add some picture or just make a quick list and get back to my games asap to try to keep up :P
"I vote just the list."
"I second it."
"Motion is passed."
not in order

governments
Computer lah... it's no wonder i never find the time to go to do some blogging... what the hell did i expect :P
so new format, instead of posting my blogs on time. it will be late. but i'll put the date up of when the blog was suppose to be up. so it will be back-dated until i can keep up or decide to start afresh.
NEWS
computer working, manage to salvage most of my old data at least the important stuff but sadly i lost all my movies and series. So i'm redownloading everything. gonna take a while since i can't exactly use torrent so freely anymore (got caught two months ago just before my computer broke down.
One more thing. i've so say college is an interesting place. never have i imagine that i would meet people with radical idea or even a different point of view and also to discover more about myself.
To date:
1. i'm a objectivist
2. i'm all for positive liberty(new) :P
well, what more interesting is that i've manage get into a conversation on what an ideal government would be. and we(the other shall not be name) discuss a type of democratic government called demarchy. it's basically a type of government where the leaders are chosen by random from a pool of people.
we came to an agreement, that because i'm all for positive liberty, the "pool" of people would be intellectual people. people would need a certain level prestige and contribution in the world of science to be allowed into the "pool." now randomly selecting people has it's benefits. it is to prevent the way political campaign is run today. millions and millions of dollar wasted just to sway voters and it doesn't always produces satisfactory results.
but with intellectual people steering the country, i could be at least happy to know decision made would be base on the fact rational logic. well, of course some would consider that people are fallible. well, there could always be safeguard, i suppose, that would be set to prevent any problems. but still overall, i think it's easier to safeguard this system compared to today government.
so, enough ranting. let me show you thing to come :P
what my complete computer look like. i've not place the cover because something is still wrong... soon, you will know what happen :P
so new format, instead of posting my blogs on time. it will be late. but i'll put the date up of when the blog was suppose to be up. so it will be back-dated until i can keep up or decide to start afresh.
NEWS
computer working, manage to salvage most of my old data at least the important stuff but sadly i lost all my movies and series.

IT HAS ARRIVED!!!
the long awaited day has finally arrive... well... it was just 3 days of waiting... maybe i'm over exaggerating but then again it's my computer we are talking about.
anyway this is my order forms on tuesday
well, this order is for my motherboard and graphic card. i kept the bill separate to cause of the process i need to go through to apply for the lifetime warranty. the rest of my computer is on a separate order:
well, this is one order but newegg decided they didn't like shipping ti at the same time. but i'm all good with that cause it was from the same location and i just hope they will arrive at the same time.
well, so it's here or at least in the freaking mail room. well, i'm at work now and i'll did try to retrieve my computer before work but the mail room was close *sob* so now i've to wait until work to get it.
hopefully by tonight, i can get it up and running and start banging away at the months of gaming that i've miss out on. namely warcraft 3 and a couple new games:
i will definitely post another blog to show me getting my computer together and showing off it's awesomeness *EVIL LAUGHTER*

well, this turn out different
well, it was funny. at first i wanted to talk about the fact that i am sick. and it all change yesterday. i was talking to this boss of mine at my new work place. and we got into a sticky discussion or at least what would have been a sticky discussion if he had not been the one leading the conversation.
well, we talk about politics and then... something which i tread lightly... philosophy. well, i know who i am... and my way of thinking has always been different. so it is not something i voice so openly. well, anyway all this time i never knew what was the name of my way of thinking. i mean i know it's not the regular stuff and i don't mean that in a condescending tone. it's just i don't know what are the names of the different view. but i do know, there isn't a lot of "me" out there.
So, after about ninety minutes of talking, i found out, on a political point of view i am a liberal, not sure of the subcategory yet. As for my philosophical point of view, I AM AN OBJECTIVIST. well, there is a link to the way i see the world.
well, the most surprising thing that i would say is that i form this point of view without being influence by Ayn Rand works. i thought there was nobody like me or at least there wasn't a group out there like me. maybe one or two poor souls out there trying to justify the way they see the world. How naive am i? out of 8 billion people out there and i thought there wouldn't have been a movement that suits me just nicely.
anyway let me explain how i see the world or at least from the points Ayn Rand makes.

- Reality exists as an objective absolute—facts are facts, independent of man’s feelings, wishes, hopes or fears.
- Reason (the faculty which identifies and integrates the material provided by man’s senses) is man’s only means of perceiving reality, his only source of knowledge, his only guide to action, and his basic means of survival.
- Man—every man—is an end in himself, not the means to the ends of others. He must exist for his own sake, neither sacrificing himself to others nor sacrificing others to himself. The pursuit of his own rational self-interest and of his own happiness is the highest moral purpose of his life.
- The ideal political-economic system is laissez-faire. It is a system where men deal with one another, not as victims and executioners, nor as masters and slaves, but as, by free, voluntary exchange to mutual benefit. It is a system where no man may obtain any from others by resorting to physical force, and no man may initiate the use of physical force. The acts only as a policeman that protects man’s; it uses physical force only in retaliation and only against those who initiate its use, such as criminals or foreign invaders. In a system of full capitalism, there should be (but, historically, has not yet been) a complete separation of state and economics, in the same way and for the same reasons as the separation of state and church.
- I look at facts alone. I don't let emotion get in the way of facts.
- Well, the second point ties to the first point in the sense, i value logic above everything.
- Now this point is very interesting. some people consider this view selfish or self centered or some other similar description. I don't live to sacrifice myself for anybody just because it's consider a good thing(emotions). I see it as i do what i must to make sure i'm happy. And it doesn't mean i never do a good deed, it's just i don't see it as a good deed. well, of course there are something that i do that isn't all that nice either.
- Now, this point just means that, i value competition above anything else. Anything that supports the weak trying to bring everything up as a hold is bound to fail, from my point of view.

my posts are way too long...
it took me a two days to realize that my post are way way too long. i quote from house:
and here are some pictures. i don't feel like elaborating too much since i'm short on time.
This is by far one of the more interesting pictures that i have... i mean this is what happen to a floor full of guys who have nothing better to do i guess...
Have you ever seen a pepsi bottle like this? i mean even if you did it's probably when you are still a toddler... i found this last spring in my aunt house... talk about an old drink... too bad it wasn't wine. anybody want to give it a try? and maybe get a diarrhea for an hour? :P
btw, one of my classes is now working in a research lab, doing all sort of cool experiment, which i will talk about another time, can't seem to get the right pictures for that yet... anywho, this is what they have just in front of my research lab. it's suppose to be a genome sequence of a mice (which we frequently test on), but all i see is pretty color and a nice background for my cellphone.
before i leave, GUNDAM 00 started!! go watch!!
Fourteen pages. The audience will be comatose by paragraph two.yes... i probably would have killed somebody out there already... well, it's too late to do anything right about now, so i'll leave it at that and pray i don't kill anybody again :P

computer and shoes...
well, life is funny. i told my mom a while back that i would get a new computer after my mcat test, so she said it's ok. so she said gave me 500. and i was sweet. well, i knew it's going to be tight. so i look around for more funds. and the next place is my aunt. well, i've been hell of helpful to her so many times, i decide to bug her a bit. so finally after a while, she also agreed to another 500... now i'm a thousand up and i haven't even planned out what i want. since last term i was about 700 up on my account... well, i knew by the time i purchase the computer i wouldn't have the 700 to spend cause i don't have a job...
so, not after some calculation... but spending my money cause i don't have a job. well, that's because i lost my workstudy and thus my job. so i decided to look for one after my mcat test. you know so i can concentrate... at least that was the plan. well let's say thing fell apart. so now by now i'm 200 down... and so i think, by the time i get my check from my new job... i might be another 100 down... so, i would have around 400 bucks from my own saving... that's make a grand total of 1400 :P
now under normal circumstances... i wouldn't be spending all my money... but then again, it's my computer... and now i need a new one, and i don't think i'm going to spare any expenses. btw, i got a job :P and a way to make more money... well, some of you know how :P
so anyway this is my list of parts i'm going to get. so, how is gonna get jealous :P
NZXT LEXA BlackLine Black Steel
ASUS P5N-D LGA 775 NVIDIA nForce 750i SLI ATX
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor
EVGA 896-P3-1267-AR GeForce GTX 260 Core 216 Superclocked Edition 896MB 448-bit GDDR3
Thermaltake CL-P0257 Blue orb II CPU Cooler for LGA775 & K8
G.SKILL 8GB (4 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD6400AAKS 640GB
CORSAIR CMPSU-620HX 620W ATX12V v2.2
and there is also one more dvd burner that i would buy... and also.. well, my old hard drive and two more dvd and cd drive. so, as you can see, this is one wicked computer... well, look at the lighting. i don't really fancy red, but the blue version is more expensive. well at least it would be mix with blue. well, on the bright sight it will cost me about 1300 and you will never find a price this cheap with any prebuilt computer... only self build computer can be this cheap... well, anyway still need to check prices everywhere to see if i can get it any cheaper... btw, did i say i'm also going to get a 22 inch monitor to go with my 17 inch monitor... and thus making the setting a duo monitor :P jealous yet?
maybe not... but i've still an ace up my sleeve. my cousin has brought my brother a 400 bucks graphic card last year and when he as me what i want i decided nothing yet... so i'm hoping i would be able to convince him to get me an original 64bit windows vista and a sound card and that would be sweet.
So... let's make a transition to a second topic for me, shoes :P weird isn't it? i mean come on, i'm a guy... and so how can you expect me to talk about shoes.... so let's start. and you will understand. well, this is my shoes... and well, it's a shoes i brought from malaysia... i was thinking i'm probably the only one with that pair of shoes. design and all... why? there is two reasons
ain't i weird?
so, well, if you look close enough, you will see the it has green strips all over it. and well it's impossible fo rme to take that picture as you can see, just cause that guy is several steps ahead of me... well, i could have walk ahead and ask someone to take the picture for me... but i'm not that free. so here is pic of my shoes...
well, as you can see, it's the same. i mean it's seriously the same. well, anyway the whole point of this post i just to share the incredible odd that occur to me. so what do you think? did anybody else have this happen to them?

- and i've freaking hell traveled 20000 miles before wearing them!!
- and also there is like a million design out there, with different color and everything.

So, i'm trying to do this like the third time already... with two failed attempt, i don't think i can take a third. btw, this happen a month or more ago, just didn't get the thing to post. so let's start :P
the first question of the day is: WTF is wrong with this picture?
now, if you can't find out what's wrong with this picture... i'm sadden by how little you know me... so scroll down for an answer :P
so, now the answer... where the fuck was my computer... well, it crashed. and i mean it just refuse to start up after i shut it down for four hours... i mean what the hell could happen in 4 hours without me doing nothing...it's just plain weird. so, this is probably the best situation for me. i mean it happen one week before my mcat test. so i was like yes!! now i can concentrate on studying for the mcat. well, it was thrusday and so my test is like next saturday...
ok, now let's see the twist turner. i mean a serious twist turner. So, on sunday, six days before the mcat test, i decided to check up on the test to see what i need... now the most stupid thing happen, i remember the wrong FUCKING date... it was YESTERDAY... i FUCKING MISS IT BY 24 FUCKING HOURS... and i thought this was gonna be a good freaking semester...
so now i have to wait for the next test date. which is in january... and well, no refunds too. that just means i loss 200, well and it's not malaysian. IT'S US DOLLARS... well, guess i've just lost 200 dollars. what a way to start the year. so, let's see i lost 200 bucks and my computer broke... in all likely hood. i say it's been a magnificiant day.
well, so i went one month without computer... damm it was hard.
